AIDS: The Lost Voices

In 1991 Rolando Iglesias, a veteran waiter at San Francisco’s toniest restaurant, Stars, was dismissed after being accused of misrepresenting the restaurant’s popular soufflé dessert; Iglesias lodged a legal claim alleging his sacking was a pretext for discrimination after he returned from a month’s absence for AIDS‑related pneumonia and had recently been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
